LEAD ARTIST

CHARACTER / ENVIRONMENT / WEAPONS ARTIST

POST-PROCESSING AND DESIGN

BRI'ANA DEAL

Hi! My name is Bri’Ana Deal, and I was the lead artist on project Samsara. As lead artist, it was my responsibility to present the team with various ideas for the visual style of the game and set out the art direction for myself and fellow artists during pre-development. The world I envisioned for Samara was stylized, visually rich, and atmospheric. As a team we agreed this was the visual direction we would take. Also, I needed to make sure my fellow artists had everything they needed to execute our vision in the small amount of development time we had. This would often times mean creating visual style boards, lists of tutorials and references, or even helping an artist that was unfamiliar with a part of the workflow to learn the steps and programs we set out to use.

Besides my general role, I was also the character and weapons artist. I concepted all five characters and weapons, sculpting them in Zbrush, retopologizing in 3D Coat, and texturing in Substance Painter. For the environment, I created the foliage you see in the game and the master materials for the scenes. I also did the set dressing in Level 1, lighting/post-process, and created the trailer and cinematic cutscenes.

I loved working on this project and am very proud of the art we accomplished in 8-9 weeks. Around this time last year I was finishing up my first ever 3D modeling class. So to have produced this project with my amazing team around the 1-year mark of my journey in games is something I'll cherish for life!!!
